Islamic Economic & Financial Readiness to Face the Industrial Revolution 4.0
The Bachelor of Sharia Economics Study Program (Prodi) STIE Perbanas Surabaya in collaboration with the BI Institute from Bank Indonesia held an International Public Seminar on Friday, March 14 2018. This activity is part of a series of activities for the 5th Indonesia Sharia Economic Festival (ISEF) in 2018.
Located at the Auditorium of campus 1 STIE Perbanas Surabaya, Jl. Nginden Semolo 34-36 Surabaya, this event carries the theme "The Readiness of Islamic Finance Facing the Industrial Revolution 4.0". More than 300 participants attended, ranging from practitioners, academics, researchers, to students.
Head of Sharia Economics Study Program, Dr. Wiwik Lestari, M.Sc., said that this program is in line with the mission built by the study program it supervises. Now, Sharia Economics graduates must be prepared to face changes oriented to the Industrial Revolution 4.0. In other words, this activity aims to equip the competence of the general public, especially in the field of Human Resources (HR) including graduates of the Bachelor of Sharia Economics. In fact, they are encouraged to face all kinds of challenges with a digital-based Islamic economic and financial system.
For this reason, the speaker presented was also a Member of the Supervisory Board from FWU AG in Munich, Germany, (Member of the Supervisory Board of FWU AG in Munich, Germany), Prof. Volker Nienhaus. For approximately 2 hours, his party explained the Islamic financial system and its challenges on an international scale.
Met after the event, Prof. Volker stated that the potential for sharia economic development in Indonesia is quite large. This needs to be aligned with digital developments. Bank Indonesia and the Financial Services Authority need to be present in these conditions. In fact, training can be held that is the exchange of information across countries. "It's a good opportunity but maybe this could be strangers of exchange and practice," he said.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of STIE Perbanas Surabaya, Dr. Yudi Sutarso, S.E., M.Sc., said that the challenges in the field of sharia economics are related to contracts in the Sharia Economy, which can be said to be complicated, so a smart contract is needed. Therefore, education at STIE Perbanas Surabaya is currently leading to Education 4.0. "The key one is digitization and the second is the internet," he concluded. (Tail)
