Community Service During the Covid-19 Pandemic: STIE Perbanas Surabaya Lecturer Team Trains Life Skills of Surabaya Orphans
During the Covid-19 pandemic, it is not an obstacle to continue implementing the Tridarma of Higher Education. For the academic community of STIE Perbanas Surabaya, routine education and teaching activities, research, and community service must continue.
As has been done by the STIE Perbanas Surabaya Lecturer Team. His party realizes Internal Community Service for the Addinu Waddunya Orphanage Orphanage High School (YPPAY Adinda), Sidosermo, Surabaya. By carrying out activities entitled Increasing Life Skills through Computer Training and Job Preparation. This program is targeted at orphans from local school graduates.
Chief Executive, Dr. Nurul Hasanah Uswati Dewi, M.Sc., CTA., Confirmed that his party held online training. Life skills training is aimed at helping dozens of graduates from orphans to improve their ability to work in the administrative sector as well as job skills. According to him, self-confidence and ethical knowledge are needed in the world of work. "This job preparation training is needed because of the orientation of orphans who tend to jump right into the world of work after graduating from high school," he explained after giving training on Saturday-Sunday, 16-17 May 2020.
Nurul explained that the whole material was presented in three stages. First, participants received hard skills training in the use of Excel-based cash books. Second, it shows the importance of having soft skills, confidence and work ethics. And, the three local high school graduates get provisions on how to write good job application letters and resignation letters. "Virtual training activities through Zoom and Whatsapp. The mechanism is, the community service team compiles videos as a tool to convey material and prepare online conversations for discussion, "he explained.
He continued, when the discussion took place, participants could ask questions about the material that had been given. The video material that has been compiled also provides flexibility for participants to study again at any time. "Hopefully, this life skill training can be a means for YPPAY Adinda Orphanage's children to prepare themselves to be ready to work. Later, they can get a job that is competitive and performs with a good balance between hard skills and soft skills, "he hoped.
It should be noted, the community service implementation team of STIE Perbanas Surabaya, consisting of: Dr. Nurul Hasanah Uswati Dewi, M.Sc., CTA, Dr. Tjahjani Prawitowati, M.M., Psychologist, Dr. Luciana Spica Almilia, QIA, CPSAK, Lufi Yuwana Mursita, S.E., M.Sc.
