Following are the Applications for College Friends and Working at Home during the Covid-19 Pandemic
In accordance with the instructions of the Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia, the process of teaching and learning activities during the Covid 19 pandemic was held online. This step was taken as a solution to keep educational activities running. Moreover, the implementation of the Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) which was extended has made students and students have to remain silent at home. For workers, especially educators, they also deliver online learning materials with various applications.
In order to support the program, Lecturer and Head of ICT STIE Perbanas Surabaya, Hariadi Yutanto, S.Kom., M.Kom., Has prepared an application that can be used for online lectures. "We, together with the ICT STIE Perbanas Surabaya team, have summarized 4 applications that can be used to continue studying from home during the Covid-19 pandemic," said Hariadi Yutanto.
Antok, his nickname, has released a series of applications that can be used as college students and students. First, Zoom Cloud, an online meeting application. According to him, this service has been present on the desktop platform since 2011 and can now also be used for Android and iOS smartphone users. Later, this application can be used to gather with lecturers and class colleagues and share material to be discussed. "The trick, you can directly download this application on the Google Play Store or AppStore for smartphones," he explained.
For laptop users, Antok suggested that students can directly download via a search engine with the keyword “Zoom Cloud Meeting” or by visiting the https://zoom.us/ page. If so, users can create a Zoom ID first with a personal email. "Zoom with the basic version of the account can facilitate participants up to 100 users and the meeting duration is 40 minutes for one meeting. However, if you upgrade to the business version you will get a lot of value, such as there is no time limit for 40 minutes and more users, "he added.
The second application, namely Google Meet. Antok said, this online meeting application facilitated by Google has made it easy to interact and share information in an online meeting media that presents several people in one forum. The simplicity is, this application is already integrated with the Google Mail account. Anyone with a Google account with access to email can take advantage of this feature via an internet browser.
"By using Google Meet, you can connect with as many as 250 participants, of course, all of this is accessed through G Suite in your email account. G Suite is a suite of tools, software, and products tailor-made by Google to support productivity and collaboration, ”he details.
Then, the third application is Skype, an application for communication that displays face-to-face video between users. "By using Skype, you can connect with colleagues and lecturers up to 50 people in the same room. You can also make presentations easily without having to re-type the text. What must be ensured in using the application is a strong network connection because the problem in using Skype is that the connection is easily interrupted, "he said.
Finally, students and students can take advantage of the WhatsApp application. Now, of course, for them the WhatsApp application is a must on their cellphones. In addition, this application is also considered easier and less complex in operation. Students can carry out teaching and learning activities using group chat on WhatsApp. There is also a videocall group feature that can be filled by eight group members. If it is not effective, the lecture process will inevitably have to be done through text chat. "Those are all application recommendations that we can give to those of you who are still in the lecture process and hopefully they will be useful, stay active and productive in the midst of this Covid-19 pandemic," he concluded..
