This is how the Perbanas Management Masters Study Program applies an online thesis exam in the middle of the Covid 19 academy
The widespread spread of the Corona Virus (Covid 19) had an impact on lecture activities in a number of universities which were disrupted. However, this obstacle was overcome by STIE Perbanas Surabaya by means of online (online). In fact, the Student Thesis Exam (Prodi) Master of Management (MM) STIE Perbanas Surabaya was held online via Video Call Goup (VCG).
Veny Lidiawati, S.E., one of the students of the Master of Management study program at STIE Perbanas Surabaya also experienced it. Contacted after the Thesis Examination, Veny admitted that he still feels stage fright is the same as an exam by meeting in person. Wearing a white-black shirt with a bandage for the alma mater typical of the Best Business and Banking Campus in Indonesia, this prospective graduate from the Master of Marketing Management admitted that he was greatly helped by the exams via the Group Video Call.
"In my opinion, an online thesis exam conducted with a Video Call Group is the right solution in preventing the spread of Covid 19. Given that starting on the 16th I was just at home, working from home, and as much as possible did not leave the house," he said.
It is undeniable that the marketing of one of the universities in East Java did encounter obstacles during the trial. The obstacle is in the form of an unstable cellular network. However, this is not a crucial problem because the implementation continued smoothly for 90 minutes. "Starting at 09.00 to 10.30 WIB. I was tested by Dr. Soni Harsono, Dr Ronny, Dr. Basuki, and Prof. Tatik as my supervisor, ”Veny impressed.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Master of Management Study Program, Prof. Dr. Tatik Suryani, Psi., M.M., said that the online thesis exam actually differs only in the medium. This he did because he wanted to break the chain of spreading the Corona virus. "In substance, (online thesis exam, -red) does not reduce the weight of the exam because it uses a video call. We can also see each other, including the first 15-20 minutes of seeing students deliver their presentation, "he explained.
He also detailed, as many as three students scheduled for thesis examinations in the near future. Then, there were two students on behalf of Veny and Dessy who had finished their online thesis examination. "If later the Chairman's policy on online learning is still running, it means that one student who has not taken the exam will use the same method. Because in principle, we don't want to interfere with student services, "he said.
Prof. Tatik also plans to propose to the Deputy Head of Academic Affairs for the local campus to apply the same method in the Postgraduate Student Proposal Examination. This step will be taken, if the online learning policy is extended until April. "In the future, if it is extended to April, we propose to the deputy chairperson that the Proposal Examination can also use other media. Whether it's using Zoom or Video Call, the important thing is to keep going so that students' enthusiasm doesn't diminish to finish their studies on time, "he concluded. (eko/humas)
