Journalism Training for STIE Perbanas Surabaya Students
Public Relations of STIE Perbanas Surabaya in collaboration with the Student Activity Unit (UKM) Fiducia held a Journalism, Photography, and Website Training for STIE Perbanas Surabaya Students on Saturday, 19 October 2019. Located in Room D305-306 Campus 1, this event was attended by more than 75 students from various majors. Also attending were PR representatives from each Student Organization (Ormawa) STIE Perbanas Surabaya.
Head of Marketing and Public Relations, Abu Amar Fauzi, S.S., M.M., said that in the Industrial Revolution Era 4.0, graduates were required to multitask. For example, students majoring in Accounting, Management, and Islamic Economics can develop communication skills, one of which is by understanding the role of journalism. According to him, in the world of work, apart from core skills, they need additional skills to jump-start their careers. "One of them, communication skills that can not be left behind," he said in front of the training participants.
In addition, he hopes that the students who attend the training can contribute in increasing the quantity of content on the main website of STIE Perbanas Surabaya. In fact, they can increase Webometrics ranking by adding regular content. One of them, students who have writing skills and creative content can be published on the website.
Meanwhile, to support student competence, presenters were presented directly from Jawapos Journalists, Septinda Ayu Pramitasari and Surya Daily Photographer, Khabibur Rokhman. In delivering journalistic news material, Ayu, who is called a Jawapos journalist, provides material about the importance of journalism, types of news to good and correct news writing techniques. At the end of her session, Ayu invited the participants to practice writing news about the event that was taking place.
The next session, namely journalistic photography material delivered by Khabibur Rokhman. In the material, he delivered material about the technique of taking the correct photo from various angles and different angles. In fact, participants were invited to practice with the training object so that students were free to take pictures of models from various angles.
One of the participants, Jihan admitted that the knowledge received during the training was very important. The reason is, he feels he knows how to make good and true news.
