Sunday, 23 June 2019, the Bachelor of Accounting Study Program (Prodi) of STIE Perbanas Surabaya held a "Focus Group Discussion on Alumni of Bachelor of Accounting, Class of 2014". Located in Hall B campus 2 Jalan Wonorejo Timur no. 16 Surabaya, this event was guided directly by the Head of the Study Program, Dr. Nanang Shonhadji, S.E., M.Si., Ak., CA., along with the Secretary of Study Program, Titis Puspitaningrum Dewi Kartika, S.Pd., MSA., And a number of other accounting lecturers.
Dr. Nanang explained, the purpose of this discussion was to ask for input from alumni and find out information about the process of getting a job after graduating from STIE Perbanas Surabaya by applying the diploma and skills obtained during the lecture period from the 144 credits taken.
A total of 13 alumni of class 2014 attended, one of whom was Sandhi Wiratmoko, who works at the multinational company KAP EY Indonesia in Jakarta, also shared his opinion. He explained that working at the Ernst & Young (EY) Indonesian Public Accounting Firm (KAP) went through a long process, from several tests to interviews, all of which were in English. From the purpose of holding this event, Sandhi admitted that one of the courses, namely SAP, is very useful at work.
According to him, his company which is currently working is using SAP as accounting software. But not only knowledge but organizational skills and language mastery skills, especially English, also support us to make it easier to get a job at the company we want.
Discussing organizational skills, one of the alumni, Subron, who was still a student, only went home to school without participating in organizational experience or was considered inactive on campus. Subron explained that even though he was not active on campus, his party had started working while he was still in college, so that when he graduated, he was also easier to get a job. Now Subron is a staff member at a company that uses Ms. Excel as accounting software.
Based on experience during work, Subron explained that it would be very disadvantageous if you did not master Excel related to the function of the formula. According to him, each company has different accounting software. Then, in terms of language mastery, we must force students to learn English by means of e-learning to speak English and during learning, from lecturers and students to use English to communicate.
