STIE Perbanas Surabaya was selected to be one of the tertiary institutions that received the 2017 PT Unggul Fostering Program Grants from 26 universities appointed by the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education. This decision was made considering STIE Perbanas Surabaya was one of the 50 tertiary institutions that were accredited A and were asked to become partners of the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education to become caretakers of private universities that were still accredited C.

This PT Unggul Fostering Program established by the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education aims to improve the quality of higher education study programs in Indonesia. The need for improvement is because there are still study programs accredited C and the government is targeting quality assurance in higher education to be improved. For this reason, universities that receive grants from Ristekdikti have made quality improvements by improving the Internal Quality Assurance System (SPMI).

On Tuesday-Friday, August 1-4 2017, STIE Perbanas Surabaya held an Internal Quality Assurance System Internship Program for Dayanu Ikhsanuddin University, Bau-Bau, Southeast Sulawesi and Madura Islamic University, Pamekasan, East Java. As many as 10 people from the two campuses participating in the Internship were guided to make a Draft Internal Quality Assurance System in accordance with the standards set by Ristekdikti.

Deputy Head of Academic Affairs and Chief Executive of the STIE Perbanas Surabaya Fostering Program, Dr. Emanuel Kristijadi, MM., Explained the consideration of choosing the two universities because there were still many study programs accredited C so it was necessary to improve quality. "The consideration is that our campus is in the East Java region, so it has the responsibility to upgrade one higher education institution, and choose Madura Islamic University. Meanwhile, outside the region, we chose Kopertis 9, namely Dayanu Iksanuddin University, Bau-Bau, Southeast Sulawesi, "he explained.

He added that this foster care program has been carried out since May 2017, starting from the SPMI Workshop, Comparative Study to the Apprenticeship Program which is currently being held. In September, the STIE Perbanas Surabaya team will carry out monitoring regarding the implementation of SPMI whether it is running according to the guidance that has been carried out. "We will later also provide assistance on how to conduct internal audits in each university with the agreed standards," he added.

Meanwhile, one of the Heads of the Madura Islamic University Study Program participating in the SPMI Internship, Syamsidar, felt that this program was very helpful for higher education institutions that wanted to make quality improvements. "After this internship, we will continue to complete the standards, especially updating the standards we already have. Later, we will implement the set standards and then monitor them so that they are eligible to become A, "he hoped. (Tail)
