In order to improve the quality of learning and the quality of graduates, it is necessary to improve the curriculum applied by each university. This is so that the courses delivered to students are in line with the needs of the world of work. For this reason, the Bachelor of Accounting study program at STIE Perbanas Surabaya held an Alumni Meeting and Curriculum Discussion on Saturday, December 17, 2016. Located at Campus 2, Jalan Wonorejo Utara 16, Rungkut Surabaya, this activity was attended by dozens of alumni of Bachelor of Accounting from various generations.

Assistant to the Head I for Academic Affairs, Dr. Emanuel Kristijadi, MM., In his speech said that the alumni meeting was a very proud moment. "I hope that the alumni who are present can provide criticism and input to improve the curriculum, especially in the Bachelor of Accounting so that the waiting period of the graduates will not be long," he explained.

He further said that the Bachelor of Accounting study program was gradually starting to show global insight in line with its vision and mission. Evidently, one of the graduates has worked in Malaysia. "The good predicate that has been built needs to be improved so that the curriculum to be designed needs readiness to highlight the individual or soft skills needed by graduate users," he added.

While in a casual conversation related to curriculum improvement, an alumni of the Bachelor of Accounting, Rosalia, gave input so that STIE Perbanas Surabaya eliminates English classes, but when the lecture takes place it uses an introduction in English. "In addition to receiving qualified lecture materials, students will indirectly be accustomed to using English because learning has been applied repeatedly," explained an alumni who works at Schlumberger Bandar Utama, Malaysia.

Head of the Bachelor of Accounting Study Program, Dr. Luciana Spica Almalia, M.Sc., responded that currently there is a special class that uses English as an introduction, namely class Z. However, the current condition is still not optimal so that she will change the system so that the interest in the class will increase. "This suggestion is very good to be applied, according to our global vision it is one of the quick breakthroughs in improving English language skills for students," he explained.

The hope is that the Alumni Gathering can build a network of former alumni and fresh graduates. "In the future, this event can be used as a routine agenda so that this graduate-producing institution knows about the things that are needed by job users for graduates of STIE Perbanas Surabaya," he concluded.
