The Meaning of Education in Commemoration of National Education Day 2026

National Education Day, commemorated annually on May 2, holds a special meaning for many people. Each individual interprets the importance of education based on their personal experiences, which ultimately shape who they are today.
One such perspective was shared by a lecturer at Universitas Hayam Wuruk Perbanas, Dra. Ec. Aniek Maschudah Ilfitriah, M.Si., who described education as a form of lifelong learning, referring to it as a continuous journey and lesson throughout life. “Education reflects both success in life and personal happiness,” explained the lecturer from the Bachelor’s Program in Management.
A similar sentiment was expressed by UHW Perbanas student, Ria Puspita, who stated that education is a process of developing knowledge, ways of thinking, and character with the aim of becoming a better individual. “In addition, education helps us become more independent and capable of facing life’s challenges,” she remarked during a break between classes.Meanwhile, the university librarian, Aditnya Ramadhani, S.IP., M.A., offered a different perspective on the meaning of education. According to him, education encompasses three essential elements: networking, sharing, and caring. Through educational experiences within society, networks are formed among individuals. Subsequently, people exchange life values, knowledge, and insights, which in turn foster a sense of care and social awareness among fellow human beings in advancing civilization.
To commemorate National Education Day 2026, Universitas Hayam Wuruk Perbanas held an online ceremony on Saturday (May 2). The event was attended solemnly by university leaders, lecturers, and students. (eko/pr)
