A sea of green-clad online motorcycle taxi (OJOL) drivers filled the auditorium of Hayam Wuruk University (UHW) Perbanas on Thursday (5/12). This unusual sight reflected their excitement in attending a seminar organized as part of the Lustrum XI celebrations of UHW Perbanas. The seminar, titled Digital Brainstorming for OJOL Drivers, was successfully held in collaboration with Bank Indonesia, Gojek Head Surabaya, and Mafindo.
Dr. Supriyati, S.E., M.Si., Ak., Vice Rector for Resources at UHW Perbanas, explained that the event was one of the activities celebrating the 55th anniversary of UHW Perbanas. Specifically targeted at Gojek drivers in the Surabaya area, the program aimed to provide tangible benefits to this community.
“We want to contribute to the OJOL drivers, as they are part of the community that heavily relies on digital data in their daily operations. Last year, we initiated a similar program, and this time, we are extending it by sharing knowledge through digital brainstorming,” she said during the event.
The seminar aimed to enhance digital literacy concerning personal data protection and digital payment systems. Additionally, 150 OJOL drivers received basic necessities packages as part of UHW Perbanas' Charity Days program.
Inayah Sri Wardhani, S.Psi., a speaker from Mafindo and a board member of the Educational Foundation for National Private Banks of East Java, emphasized the importance of personal data protection in the digital era. She pointed out that safeguarding digital data is not solely the government's responsibility but also an individual obligation.
"This is to ensure we avoid falling victim to scams, online loans, or cyberbullying. Cyberbullying is rampant because personal data is often exposed. This event aims to encourage OJOL drivers, who are closely tied to digital operations, to be more vigilant about protecting their personal data," she explained.
One of the OJOL drivers, Deni Septian Wijanarko, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to gain knowledge through the seminar. "I hope this program continues and that UHW Perbanas continues to nurture resilient, outstanding, and intelligent students," he said after participating in the event. (pr)
