IACBE Inhouse Training, Facilitation of FEB UHW Perbanas to Achieve International Accreditation
The Faculty of Economics and Business at Hayam Wuruk Perbanas University has been entrusted by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemdikbudristek) to achieve International Accreditation. Based on the Announcement of the Results of the Selection of Program Facilitation Assistance Proposals to Obtain International Accreditation for the Year 2023, four programs are being pushed forward, including: Bachelor's in Accounting, Bachelor's in Management, Bachelor's in Sharia Economics, and Master's in Management.
The Head of Quality Assurance Center at UHW Perbanas, Dr. Luciana Spica Almilia, S.E., M.Si., mentioned that their university has been following international accreditation since 2021. Specifically, they obtained Educational Membership with the International Accreditation Council for Business Education (IACBE). "This second phase is Candidacy Accredited. It means, before accreditation, whether the institution or program is ready or not for international accreditation. Then, accreditation follows," she explained during the Candidacy Visit at UHW Perbanas Wonorejo Campus, on Monday (18/9).
Luciana further explained that the IACBE international accreditation involves two site visits, the first being for candidacy accreditation and the second for accreditation itself. During the candidacy site visit, they undergo a process of improving candidate forms. This includes aspects such as curriculum, faculty, and facilities. "If this meets the requirements for international accreditation candidacy, the next step is the international accreditation process," she added.
Meanwhile, the feedback obtained from this international accreditation process includes improvements in curriculum development, such as aligning student learning outcomes with international needs. "If international accreditation is achieved, the hope is that the level of graduate learning outcomes will also be recognized internationally. It's crucial that each course aligns with the standards set by IACBE as the provider of international accreditation," she clarified.
It's important to note that today's process is a candidacy visit attended directly by a mentor from IACBE, Dr. Laurie Yates. Moreover, some time earlier, UHW Perbanas had already submitted documents for the candidacy site visit.
"After submitting the documents, they are reviewed, and we are given one month to revise. Then, in November or December, we will receive a decision on whether we can obtain candidacy accreditation from IACBE," she concluded. (PR)
