UHW Perbanas Students Care for Victims of Mount Semeru Eruption
The eruption of Mount Semeru caused considerable damage in the Lumajang Regency area. Especially around the foot of Mount Semeru, many residential areas were damaged by the hot lava. This condition moved the caring spirit of Hayam Wuruk Perbanas University students to raise funds to relieve the victims.
The action, which was led by the UHW Perbanas Student Representative Council (DPM), opened donations to the entire academic community and the general public. The donation, which was opened for approximately 2 weeks, was coordinated by students. President Commissioner of DPM UHW Perbanas, Nabilah Afifah said the assistance provided was in the form of basic necessities and children's learning equipment to baby needs such as diapers.
“We arrived at Posko 1 ITB Wiga for transit. Then we went straight to SD 01 Candipuro. There we entertained the children who were in the refugee camps like post-disaster healing activities," said Nabilah after distributing aid on Saturday, (12/18).
Prior to scheduling a visit to the disaster site, Nabilah and 5 of her friends coordinated with the local volunteer team to show them a safe location. During the activity, they were accompanied to ensure security and assistance was channeled on target.
"Hopefully this assistance can be useful for residents affected by the Mount Semeru Eruption disaster. And of course his condition can recover and the residents here can carry out their normal activities as usual," she hoped. (eko/hms)
