Based on Law Number 21 of 2011 concerning the Financial Services Authority, OJK has the authority and duty to protect consumers and the public in the financial services sector. Based on the OJK Law, OJK has issued OJK Regulation Number 01 / POJK.07 / 2013 concerning Consumer Protection in the Financial Services Sector. The above legal provisions are prepared with the main objective of increasing consumer confidence in every activity and activity in the financial services sector.

In order to disseminate this regulation, OJK is collaborating with STIE Perbanas Surabaya to socialize regulations on consumer protection in the financial services sector. For this reason, the speakers presented were the Director of Supervision of Financial Services Institutions (LJK) 2 and Strategic Management, Mulyanto and the Junior Analyst of the OJK Consumer Protection Department, Aryanti Dwi Rachmawati.

When met after his remarks, Mulyanto explained that his party received service reports on requests for information and complaints from consumers regarding the use of financial services. So far, reports of consumer service and complaints from the sector, which are related to insurance, reached 82.96% or 8,336 reports, followed by the banking sector. "So, the first is insurance, (consumers, -red) there are those who ask for information related to products. That's why OJK asks financial service institutions to provide customers with comprehensive information regarding the benefits or risks faced when using these financial service products, "he explained.

According to him, people need to increase literacy about financial service products. This is because currently there is still a gap between the use of financial services and the level of literacy. The level of use of financial services nationally reaches 70% and in the East Java area there is 73%. Then, the inclusion or usage has reached 60%. "On the other hand, literacy level of understanding is relatively low, nationally 29% and East Java around 33% so there is a gap between 33% and 73%," he explained.

Therefore, his party conducted outreach to the public. Socialization is one of OJK's efforts to provide understanding to the public, not just academics but including Financial Service Business Actors themselves.

In this regulation, the Application of Consumer Protection considers a number of principles, including: (a) transparency; (b) fair treatment; (c) reliability; (d) confidentiality and security of consumer data / information; and (e) handling complaints and resolving consumer disputes in a simple, fast, and affordable manner.

Consumer protection in question, namely protection of Consumers with the scope of behavior of Financial Service Business Actors. Financial Services Business Actors include: Commercial Banks, Rural Banks, Securities Companies, Investment Advisors, Custodian Banks, Pension Funds, Insurance Companies, Reinsurance Companies, Financing Institutions, Pawn Companies, and Guarantee Companies, both of which carry out their business activities conventionally. as well as in sharia.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of STIE Perbanas Surabaya, Dr. Yudi Sutarso, S.E., M.Sc., responded that the socialization activities were no stranger to the campus environment he currently leads. This means that this activity is in accordance with the soul and characteristics of STIE Perbanas Surabaya. "Students who study here, their concentration is in banking, finance, and marketing. Of course, this activity will really support students who take the study program, "he explained.

He also hopes that his students will become agents in disseminating the policies set by the OJK. "For students, this socialization is certainly not just curious, but students will become agents who socialize to the environment. Because to whom else, people ask about financial service institutions, except for one with STIE Perbanas Surabaya students, "he hoped. (Ek0 / public relations)
