Alumni are an inseparable part of a higher education institution. The role of alumni is very influential in the progress of a campus. In fact, alumni can be a medium to increase the absorption of graduates into the world of work.

Given the importance of the role of graduates in campus progress, the Alumni Association of STIE Perbanas Surabaya (IKAPNAS) held an Extraordinary Congress on Saturday, July 13, 2019. Located at Hall Campus 2 Jl. Wonorejo Utara 16 Rungkut Surabaya, this event presents alumni across generations, starting from batches, 1983, 1986, 1988, 2004, 2006, to 2014.

One of the alumni who organized the event, Chitra Laksmi Rithmaya, S.E., M.M., said that the Congress this time was held with a single agenda of selecting the new Head of IKAPNAS. Initially, this position was held by Triton Tunggorono, S.Si., M.M., who is an alumni of the Master of Management at STIE Perbanas Surabaya. "The sole agenda in this Extraordinary Congress is the election of the new Chairman of IKAPNAS," he explained.

In this process, initially a Formation Council was formed which would lead the election for the Chairperson of IKAPNAS. A total of 5 members of the Formation Council provided the opportunity for all alumni who were present to determine the candidate to be nominated. As for the candidate for Chairman, namely: Suroso, Novrizal, and Downy. Of all the candidates nominated, finally the Chairperson of the IKAPNAS who was newly elected in 2019 was entrusted to Mr. Suroso, S.E., S.H., M.Ak.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of STIE Perbanas Surabaya, Dr. Yudi Sutarso, S.E., M.Sc., was also present to give a speech to the alumni of the best business and banking campus in Indonesia. He said he welcomed to campus 2, where at the congress location a 10-story building would be built to support the learning process. In addition, he also invited alumni to be proud of the alma mater of STIE Perbanas Surabaya. "Currently our campus has been accredited A since 2016 under the leadership of Mr. Lutfi. Now, STIE Perbanas Surabaya is one of 96 public and private campuses accredited by institution A in Indonesia. And, we are ranked 70 out of 4000 universities, "he explained.

On that occasion, Dr. Yudi Sutarso, S.E., M.Sc., asked for the support of alumni to develop STIE Perbanas Surabaya into a university. This is because in the next few years the business and banking campus must also be large to achieve the target of international recognition. (public relations)
