The collaboration of traditional and modern dances in one stage becomes a unique creation. Movements accompanied by Javanese chanting to disco music blended into one performance held by STIE Perbanas Surabaya students. Those who were joined as the STIE Perbanas Surabaya Dance Student Activity Unit held a TRANDMORANCE competition on Sunday (19/3). With the theme "A Time To Dance is A Time To Life", the 50 participants of the team were aged 16-25 years. They come from various regions in East Java, including: Ponorogo, Tulungagung, Jember, Surabaya, and a number of other areas. Manager of UKM Tari STIE Perbanas Surabaya, Zahrotun Nisa said that this competition is held every year. The goal is that young people must remain familiar with the original culture in the form of regional dances in Indonesia and preserve it in the regional, national, and even international areas. "So far, the teenagers seem to have started to lack understanding of regional dances, so this event combines traditional dances and modern dances (dance) which are staged on one stage. The participants who took part in the competition this time were also more than the previous year, "said Nisa on the sidelines of the event. Nisa detailed, as many as 50 participants who took part were divided into 2 categories, namely 25 teams from the traditional dance category and 25 teams from modern dance. "The duration for each participant to appear is 7-10 minutes. In addition, they are also free to choose the concept of dance as long as it conforms to ethics and norms. That way, Indonesian culture will later be able to follow cultural developments in the international world, "he added. The participants who took part in this stage included: TDS Crew, Surya Kartika, Ning Suroboyo, Pusaka, Selawar Dance, DJ's Saman Dance, PSDC, and many others. One of the traditional dancer participants, Nikmatullah Akbar, hopes that he can win the TRANDMORANCE 2017 competition. "I performed Remo Dance earlier and this is my first performance of Javanese dancing here. Even though I come from the Riau area, I try to perform the Remo dance as well as possible. The hope is, of course our team will win in this competition, "hoped Akbar.
