The end of 2024 brought great news for Universitas Hayam Wuruk (UHW) Perbanas. Four study programs from the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) at UHW Perbanas earned accreditation from the International Accreditation Council for Business Education (IACBE), based in the United States. These programs include: Master of Management, Bachelor of Islamic Economics, Bachelor of Accounting, and Bachelor of Management.
According to Indonesia's Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Decree Number 236/O/2024, there are 13 international accreditation bodies recognized by the government, one of which is the IACBE for the fields of Economics, Management, Business, and Accounting.
This achievement was announced by the Rector of UHW Perbanas, Dr. Yudi Sutarso, S.E., M.Si., during a press conference at the Wonorejo Campus on Monday (December 23). Accompanying him were the Vice Rector for Student Affairs and Cooperation, Dr. Dra. Lindiawati, M.M., the Dean of FEB UHW Perbanas, Dr. Lutfi, S.E., M.Fin., and the Vice Dean of FEB, Dr. Luciana Spica Almilia, S.E., M.Si. They explained that the international accreditation was granted following a visit two weeks prior by the Interim President of IACBE, Dr. Archish Maharaja.
“It’s important to emphasize that this is the first time a private university in Indonesia has received international accreditation from IACBE,” Dr. Yudi stated.
Dr. Yudi also highlighted that this milestone aligns with the university’s vision of becoming a leading, excellent, and globally-minded institution that contributes to the nation’s competitiveness through its graduates and knowledge.
“This international accreditation serves as our ticket, enabling international recognition of our quality standards based on IACBE’s framework,” he added.
Dr. Luciana Spica Almilia, S.E., M.Si., Vice Dean of FEB and person-in-charge of the accreditation process, explained that the journey began in 2021 and involved three key phases. First, UHW Perbanas became a member of IACBE. The next phase involved becoming a candidate for accreditation.
“For accreditation candidacy, the curriculum must be Outcome-Based Education (OBE)-oriented, which aligns with international education standards. Before accreditation, we were required to attend IACBE workshops and submit a self-study report before applying for candidacy. This process also included a site visit,” she explained.
Following the completion of these steps, the site visit was conducted at UHW Perbanas as part of the international accreditation process.
At the same event, Dr. Lutfi, S.E., M.Fin., Dean of FEB, shared that the accredited programs have been granted “fully accredited” status, valid for seven years.
“During this period, we will periodically submit reports on our graduates’ learning outcomes. We take student performance very seriously, conducting annual surveys to measure outcomes from both institutional and student perspectives,” he added.
Dr. Lutfi emphasized that this accreditation opens opportunities for building international networks. Beyond accepting foreign students, it enables research collaborations and community engagement. “Our current focus is on short courses, which we aim to expand to student exchanges and double-degree programs in the future,” he concluded.
