35 Inbound Students from UHW Perbanas Introduced to the Culture of the City of Heroes
Hayam Wuruk Perbanas University (UHW Perbanas) plays a role in the success of the Independent Learning Campus (Kampus Merdeka) program. This time, UHW Perbanas received students from other campuses through the Independent Student Exchange (Pertukaran Mahasiswa Merdeka - PMM) Batch 3 for one semester in the odd semester of 2023-2024.
A total of 35 students from 19 universities were welcomed at the 10th-floor Auditorium of UHW Perbanas Wonorejo Campus on Saturday, September 16th. They wore their traditional attire to showcase the cultural diversity of Indonesia.
The Coordinator of Independent Student Exchange (PMM) Batch 3 at UHW Perbanas, Titis Puspitaningrum Dewi Kartika, stated that the preparations for this activity involved two aspects: academic and Nusantara modules. Academically, they prepared several courses and study plans for PMM students. Meanwhile, for the Nusantara modules, besides academic potential, students were required to get to know the culture of the destination campus area. "We introduced them to the culture of Surabaya and its surroundings in East Java. So, there are also dedicated lecturers who will accompany them in groups according to the data provided by the Ministry of Education and Culture," she explained.
Regarding the selection of study programs, she offered options in the Faculty of Economics and Business as well as the Faculty of Engineering and Design at UHW Perbanas. "Since it's called independent learning, students can choose from the options we have prepared," she added.
Titis hopes that PMM Batch 3 can introduce the distinctive features and uniqueness of UHW Perbanas to students who study there. "With the knowledge and culture we provide, they can take it back to their hometown universities," she hoped.
Meanwhile, Dila Suci Wijayanti felt impressed to participate in the Nusantara module activities. She gained invaluable insights into diversity and tolerance. "The reason for choosing UHW Perbanas is because they offer many courses that are easy to convert. So, whatever I gain here, I will bring it back to my hometown," hoped the student from Universitas Muhammadiyah Pringsewu Lampung.
The main goal of PMM is to allow students in Indonesia to explore and learn about the cultural diversity of the archipelago, make friends and socialize with students from other regions, and have the opportunity to study at the destination campus. Therefore, besides participating in academic activities, they will also have scheduled cultural experiences in Surabaya and East Java.
The origin of the students participating in the inbound UHW Perbanas PMM Batch 3 program includes: Universitas Musamus Merauke; Universitas Syiah Kuala; Universitas Baiturrahmah; Universitas Tadulako; Universitas Internasional Batam; Universitas Fajar; Universitas Muhammadiyah Pringsewu Lampung; Universitas Mataram; Universitas Tanjungpura; Universitas HKBP Nommensen Medan; Universitas Sari Mulia; Universitas Katolik Santo Thomas Medan; Universitas Lancang Kuning; Universitas Nusa Cendana; Universitas Sriwijaya; Universitas Jambi; Universitas Sembilan Belas November Kolaka; Universitas Bosowa; and Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Barat.
